Coming Home with Air Asia

Posted on August 7th, 2009 by admin in Malaysia Accommodation

A few weeks ago, October the 28th, 2008 to be exact in Malaysia, I was waiting to board a flight with Air Asia flying from Kuala Lumpur to Gold Coast, Australia. This was an overnight flight and we were due to fly out at 9.30 PM.

The plane was delayed till 12.30 AM so Air Asia supplied everyone with dinner. Being a low budget Airline they did not have to do this and they went out of their way to make us happy.

Finally we were told the engineers could not have the plane ready to fly that night, and by this time it was almost 1 AM.

This is no fault of Air Asia and I have seen this happen to many airlines and I would sooner wait than have them rushed the plane and we crash.

Air Asia then arranged accommodation and a bus to take us to the hotel.

Can you imagine the logistics of finding beds for 200 people at 1 AM, finding buses to transport us to the hotel, and having our passports stamped we had technically left Malaysia so Air Asia had to also work this out with Malaysian Immigration.

This would be a nightmare in any country in the world.

They could have just left us at the airport

We had a room for the night in a reasonable hotel, an awesome breakfast next morning followed by another awesome lunch. Then a representative of Air Asia arrived at the hotel and explained that Malaysian Air would take us home.

Even after boarding Malaysian Air an Air Asia representative was there to make sure we were OK and stayed till we were due to fly.

I do not endorse any product, but the way we were looked after, the courtesy and hospitality and professional conduct of the Air Asia staff overwhelmed me, thus the reason I wrote this song/jingle

Thank You Air Asia
